Baki Hamna, the martial arts anime that has taken the world by storm, is a thrilling combination of action, suspense, and sports genres. Recently adapted by the streaming giant Netflix, Season 1 of this gripping series was released in September 2021 and consisted of around a dozen episodes. However, the excitement didn't end there, because Netflix has now released a brand new Season 2 of Baki Hanma this July 2023. This season has been divided into two halves to keep you on the edge of your seat for longer.

The first half of Season 2 was released on July 26, 2023, and the second half was released soon after on August 24, 2023. This means that viewers can enjoy a total of 27 episodes of this fantastic martial arts anime series. Itagaki's other works include New Grappler Baki, which was published in Weekly Shonen during the late 90s and early 20s and sold over 60 million copies till 2016. Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre, which began in the year 2005 and ended in 2012, was another series that captured the imagination of manga lovers. Baki Dou: “The Way of Baki,” was serialized from 2014 to April 2018 and was yet another example of Itagaki's mastery of the art. Finally, Baki Rahen, a sequel of Baki Dou, was serialized in August 2023, proving once again that Itagaki is a force to be reckoned with in the world of manga.

Baki Hanma Season 2 Recap:

In the tale of Baki Hanma, the offspring of the renowned Yujiro Hanma, who is known as The Ogre and possesses expertise in various forms of martial arts, the protagonist, Baki, takes on the daunting task of defeating his father in a one-on-one match to become the world's strongest fighter.

However, Baki's motivation to challenge the world's strongest fighter did not stem from a desire for revenge or a thirst for power. Instead, he was driven by his love for his mother and a need to repay her for all that she had done for him. He saw defeating his father as a way to fulfill his mother's wish of making Yujiro Hanma equal to her.

In the second season of the series, Baki learns about the discovery of a primordial man from the Jurassic era, which scientists believe to be the greatest gift to humanity. The scientists plan to revive him to uncover the secrets of the past that have been lost to time. Upon conducting tests on the revived caveman, they discover that his strength makes him the strongest human to have ever lived.

However, chaos ensues when the caveman, dubbed Pickle, reveals that he only eats after winning a hard-fought battle. This declaration ignites a desire in every fighter who has ever considered themselves strong to face Pickle in combat.

After numerous battles and even devouring Katsumi's arms, Pickle goes up against Baki in a supernatural fight of epic proportions. Baki ultimately chooses to lose to Pickle and allows him to escape, never to be seen in the modern world again. Despite knowing how to find Pickle, Baki shows him kindness.

After these strange events, the time finally arrives for Baki to face his strongest opponent yet: his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is the world's strongest man. The stage is set for the greatest fight that Japan has ever witnessed, and all eyes are on the two fighters as they prepare to battle it out for the title of the world's strongest fighter.

Baki Hanma Season 3’s Ending Explained:

The fierce battle between Baki and Pickle, the primeval man, left Baki with no choice but to confront the mightiest fighter to ever exist, Yujiro Hanma. This encounter was set in a hotel room and ignited in a volatile manner where the Ogre unleashed countless brutal strikes on his son, breaking the room walls and finally throwing them out of the window towards the ground. Despite surviving the fall, Baki was left in a state of mush due to the Ogre's continued beating.

Baki's attacks were predictable against the powerful Ogre, and even when he managed to land a hit, it missed the crucial spots. However, Baki's quick assault caught the Ogre off guard and dealt significant damage. In response, Yujiro broke Baki's nose, causing blood to spill everywhere, and in every move Baki made, Yujiro outstretched his hand.

With blood flowing from his nose, eyes and ears, Yujiro grabbed Baki and swung him like a flag. The fight was more than just a mortal battle, and the aura of the fighters was visible to everyone experiencing the fight. As the Hanma blood within Baki awakened at 100%, he bashed the Ogre with a hard rock track playing in the background.

The battle was now beyond human capabilities, and with the end drawing near, Yujiro announced Baki as the strongest fighter in the world. The father and son even shared an imaginary meal of miso soup.
